Description
This is my original design combining the powerful archetypal figures of Coatlique and Medusa. Every image minus the wings is a photograph. The snakes are mojave rattlesnakes that I’ve rescued and released back into the wild seen in my videos, which I have colored in this instance. Arizona Coatlique - Rattlesnake Medusa is a feathered Serpent Queen - a dark angel of mercy. She is a paradoxical image for the new age and the new world, and was forged in the heat of the Arizona Sonoran Desert. Like the original Medusa, she has serpents for hair (my mojave rattlesnakes), and like the Aztec goddess, Coatlique, who is the Mother of all deities, she wears her customary skirt of live, writhing rattlesnakes. When she is looked upon by men, they see their own reflection in her glasses, and if a monster is to be seen, they will see it there. If a monster is not seen, their heart is pure and that purity is rewarded by no petrification. She relegates vengeance to her Aztec counterpart, Coatlique, who avenges all women harmed by men, particularly by rape or forced childbirth. In an act of tough love, she does not let up until her victims do, and then balance returns, and her beauty is appreciated by everyone.
