Out of all the rattlesnake species that inhabit the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, the Western Diamondback seems to be the most iconic. Therefore, I claim it to be the Serpent of the Southwest. This one was rescued from my backyard and released back into the wild about 50 miles southwest of Phoenix, Arizona, USA on June 15, 2009.
