This old mesquite tree sits on the bank of a desert wash where it had recently flooded. In the dying embers of twilight, everything seemed exceptionally vivid and lush - not a scene most folks associate with a desert. But the Sonoran Desert of Arizona is the United States’ most diverse desert with many lush, green spots to savor - especially after a much needed rainfall. This particular wash is located about 50 miles southwest of Phoenix and is replete with such places!
