The background for this slogan is a photograph of Picket Post Mountain near Superior, Arizona in the Sonoran Desert. These oft-repeated words by modern day conservationists are attributed to a character in one of Edward Abbey’s classic novels. This setting is not that far from Abbey’s final resting place, and he loved no place more than the Sonoran desert and the red rock country of Utah in the American southwest.
