This gorgeous, bright sunflower was found growing unexpectedly among some desert weeds and overgrown flora near a desert wash. It was such a surprise I had to take a photo. It did not look like the usual wild ones of a smaller variety that grow near washes and irrigation ditches here. My home was nearby and my bird feeders are full of black oil sunflower seed. Could it be that a bird dropped one there? I don’t know. But it was sure nice to find it, and I hope to see it bloom again someday, no matter where it came from!
