My trail cam caught this Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) getting a drink of water from my ground level birdbath under a creosote bush by a red barrel cactus the evening of June 27, 2018 at 11:29 pm. The location is about 50 miles southwest of Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. Imagine tripping into a tunnel or kaleidoscope and having this encounter!
