Camille Pissarro was a Danish-French painter during the impressionism movement of the 19th century. I really felt that this truism went well with this picture I took back in the summer of 2018. The flower is Sacred Datura (Datura wrighti). The moth is of unknown identity to me, and I almost missed it. But like Pissarro, my eyes are always drawn to what many people do not see. And so many things that are seen are subject to misunderstanding - like this flower. Sacred Datura is one of the most beautiful and mysterious plants of the Arizona Sonoran Desert. While it has been used sparingly as a ritual deliriant and medicinal narcotic among native populations, it is dangerously poisonous for those who do not know how to prepare it correctly.
