Ronald, that's what I was trying to get Mike to understand, no such thing as a trolling law. Of course there are other laws governing online activity but it's clear none of those apply.

Mario Carta

1:57:32 PM

Oh, I don't either Ronald, but one would have to be well versed on issues regarding local culture and even laws for that matter when they were called into question.

Mario Carta

1:59:26 PM

Actually I think the forum rules before they were changed were totally unprofessional, could you imagine trying to make a case against a person for being a jerk? it was quit laughable I imagine that's why they changed only recently.

Mario Carta

Another problem would be humor, have you ever watched a British comedy show? I find it hard to believe they would understand American humor. Lol !

Ronald Walker

Wonder if some rule changes were made for legal reasons due to the vagueness of the old ones?

Mario Carta

2:09:37 PM

The old ones were just unprofessional for a business, kind of like there enforcement was and is as in your ban.

Mario Carta

2:10:10 PM

and mine, banned for a year for opening a thread titled "nothing" I mean really.

Mario Carta

2:15:57 PM

One thing I learned in all my years of law enforcement is not every thing that appears legal is legal and not everything that appears illegal is illegal. We had a saying don't believe anything you hear and only trust half of what you see.

Mario Carta

2:24:20 PM

People in general look at circumstance and like to jump to conclusions and rely on speculation for the most part. I see that a lot in the forum when discussing a variety of subjects. People don't take the time to really understand a subject before they voice meaningless opinions.

Mario Carta

2:27:20 PM

Anyway it's such a beautiful day outside I am taking my dogs out for a walk.

each state and country has its own set of laws. you have to look up each one. i don't know if the law would be for this site in california, or the state or country the troll is in.

Mario Carta

2:35:49 PM

Mike, there are no laws called trolling laws, anywhere in the USA. There are a ton of other laws, some regulate the kind of sex you can have behind closed doors.

Mario Carta

2:48:27 PM

State law, federal law or municipal ordinance name one from any state, town city or federal? I will buy lunch if it address trolling as defined in the online environment.

Mike Savad

2:53:05 PM

it wouldn't be a direct trolling, the lawyers will think of whatever it actually is. i can't say one way or the other, because often the messages are erased before i can see them, but they do save them. trolling can me lots of things, traditionally it means to fish.

Ronald Walker

You can call someone a name and not be breaking a law, though it might be rude and inappropriate. If on the other hand you accused them of cheating or operating illegally then that could be constuded as slander. Very much an issue by issue post by post situation.

Mario Carta

3:11:20 PM

Anyone can be accused of anything, proving it in a court of law is a totally different thing, when that happens and the allegations can't be proven the accuser is open for a lawsuit and legal fees at the very least. That is why you choose your legal battles very carefully. To be honest I have never been hindered by troll on any of my sites or on sites I participate in. It's simply a matter of ignoring much like ignoring an article in a newspaper, T.V., radio ,or any other form of communication.

Mario Carta

3:16:42 PM

Censorship is not something I am in favor of in any discussion, especially in whats advertised as an art forum and general discussion, that's me. Others are entitled to their opinions. I guess faa is free to enact what ever policy they deem appropriate as they have instituted now, it's their business. I personally have no problem with it one way or the other but I do have my opinion and I'm always entitled to that. and it's the American way.

Mario Carta

3:21:55 PM

In my final assessment of this imaginary problem I would sum it up this way, to much to do about nothing. Lol ! Faa would function just the same with or without a forum. Like stated before only a minute percentage of the membership ever participates on a regular basis. Usually it's about a dozen or so regulars.

Mario Carta

3:29:39 PM

Enough of all this already. I'm focused on what's for dinner. That's something I can get my teeth into. I'm thinking chicken Milanes, a fresh garden salad a crusty bread and a bottle of fine red wine any objections?

Mike Savad

3:43:22 PM

you should use white wine..... :)

Mario Carta

3:45:30 PM

Mike, I just cannot aquire the taste for white wines, I'm totally a red wine drinker.

Mario Carta

3:48:24 PM

I'm waiting for my wife to get back from church so I can go get the fresh ingredients. I should have gone this morning.

Mario Carta

3:50:30 PM

My favorite wine is Malbec, Gascon Malbec from Mendoza Argentina, it's an awesome red wine and at $13.99 a bottle it's not a bad deal.

Mario Carta

9:17:07 PM

I can't believe that some members are gloating and happy with the new policy excluding non premium members from the discussions. All I can say about that is wow!

Mario Carta

9:21:16 PM

As if a non paying member is not as worthy to post and contribute to a discussion. Well this pretty much coincides with the way new members have been treated in the forums, this from observation and from other members who shared the same disgust and objection over said behavior. Seems it's not just the trolls that effect the forum.
