Description
This is a small but very beautiful and elegant dove I seldom see, even though I live in its range which is the southwestern United States plus Mexico. While they are nonmigratory and year-round residents, I only see them in late summer and early fall where I live, which is in a remote location in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona about 50 miles south of Phoenix. For that reason, I initially thought they were rare, but the guide books say they are quite common in urban areas. Either way, they are rare and precious to me, and I always seem to see them in pairs. That might be because they’re monogamous and come to less populated areas to breed. This one had a mate but was too far away to fit in this picture. I got them both together in video. I just haven’t finished it yet. I will edit this description with the url when I do!
