Description
Can you spot them? A red-tailed hawk pair lives by my home, and this hill is one of their favorite perches. I’ve found several nests hidden high in the rocks. Anyway, I took this picture near twilight with the sun in my eyes. I had no idea the silhouetted hawks were there until I uploaded the pictures and looked at them more closely. I think it’s the female down in the left lower corner under the brush by the dead ironwood tree perch (females are larger), and the male is more clearly visible on the right side of the photo. The sun had just set on the other side, and beautiful swirly clouds blended with the blue to make an exquisite backdrop. This photo was taken on February 24, 2019, in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona about 40 miles south of Phoenix.
