I was fortunate to get a close up shot of this sweet little girl on perched perfectly on a creosote bush. She’s a white-crowned sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis), and was not far from her mate, who had darker stripes on his head being the male. White-crowned sparrows are migratory. The Sonoran Desert of Arizona is blessed with their presence during winter, and this shot was taken on January 6, 2019 about 50 miles south of Phoenix.
