Description
This candid photograph was taken on February 14, 2020, at the Blue Point recreation site of the Salt River in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, about 20 miles east of Phoenix. It is a wildly popular area - especially for seeing wild horses and other wildlife, but this was winter so the crowds were not as large. Even so, it was a perfect 73 degrees - definitely warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt, which is perfectly fine for wading in the river! The sun was just setting and the cool water was flowing gently, making an incomparably calming music of its own. In fact, not long after I took this photo, a bald eagle came soaring out of nowhere — dipped down into the water and grabbed a fish. Then a Great Blue Heron appeared, and chased the eagle away — he had a nest to protect nearby. A video with more photos is forthcoming, of course! Keep an eye out on my YouTube channel at YouTube.com/waywardmuse for more.
