This sweet little male house finch was the first thing I saw when I opened my curtains one morning. He seemed to look me straight in the eye, as if he were saying, “It’s sun up. Time to rise.” It’s like it was his job or something because he stayed perched on that creosote bush for some time - at least long enough for me to grab my camera! This shot was taken on May 14, 2017 in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, about 50 miles southwest of Phoenix.
