Description
A giant saguaro cactus on the hill by my home houses an adorable Western Screech Owl
(Megascops kennicottii). Here I caught him at around 8:30 am, trying to get to sleep. Even though his nest was probably about 20 feet off the ground, I imagine he was thinking, “Can’t you see it’s past my bedtime?!” If you look closely, you can see that one eye is open just a little more than the other one. Therefore “Sleepy Eye” is the title of this photo which was taken on February 22, 2019.
