Fruit-Bearing Barrel Cactus in Desert Rhubarb Canvas Print

This was one of the prettiest scenes I encountered in the spring of 2019. On the side of the hill next to my house, I came across this bounty of nature - fruit-bearing barrel cactus in a field of rhubarb and Notch-Leafed Scorpion Weed - a pretty purple wildflower. I’ve eaten cactus fruit - it’s delicious! But I’ve never harvested desert rhubarb. I know some people do and find it quite a challenge to prepare but equally edible. I know it’s very beautiful to behold and why I took this picture. The Sonoran Desert of Arizona is the most diverse and bountiful in the United States and I am very blessed to live here and share its beauty with you. Thank you!
