Description
This exquisite picture was taken in January 2020 in the Arizona Sonoran Desert about 40 miles south of Phoenix. I had been lying down on the ground, skygazing (a form of meditation), and when I turned my head, this is what I saw: a gorgeous red-barrel cactus framed by creosote against the backdrop of a luscious pink sky. I thought, “What a pretty picture!” I only hope that the tranquility of my experience is somehow conveyed through it. It also indicates why so many folks from up north (we call them “snowbirds”) flock down to Arizona this time of year. Imagine: There are so many places you couldn’t do this in January!
