Description
On June 1, 2007, I published what was probably the first ever video of a desert iguana (Diposaurus dorsalis) on YouTube with the same title as this photo. Since that time, I’ve done several others, but never got a good still image. They move very fast and are perfectly camouflaged in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. They are also very fascinating animals, and if you want to learn about them, I encourage to watch the videos on my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/waywardmuse. On August 12, 2019 during a very hot early. morning, I spotted a young one running across the sand in my backyard. I immediately locked on and very slowly crept up to the creosote bush where she was hiding. She was frozen in the dried grass because there were no holes in which to escape. I was happy to get a few pictures with the face not totally obscured. This is one of them.
