Description
On an early morning recent hike (June 3, 2019), I was fortunate to see a black-tailed jackrabbit some distance away in the Vekol Wash - a historically and ecologically significant xeroriparian wash in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. Two species of jackrabbits (antelope and black-tailed) exist in Arizona, along with the more common desert cottontail. Black-tails are quicker to bolt when they see a threat, zig-zagging away, and that’s exactly what this one did when it saw me with my camera. I was lucky to get this shot before it took off!
