Description
The day was December 2, 2019 - one of the most spectacular sky days I’ve ever seen in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. Not only was there a flurry of activity in the sky outside the normal range, but the absolute beauty of it was incomparable. The sky was one of the deepest blues, the clouds were the most brilliant, pearlescent white, and the vivid colors of the rainbow were all around. When I say all around — I mean it. There was a circumzenithal arc right above me, and two sun dogs on either side of the afternoon sun. The subtle wind shear was creating the most unusual cloud shapes from the abundance of contrails from jets passing overhead. Then to top it off, during a gorgeous sunset, this waxing moon in Aquarius pops out of the sky, gently caressed by soft, fluffy pink clouds, as if to sing us a lullaby!
